Mosques and Churches I Visited in Istanbul

DSC02796

So I’ll say a general comment on my experience – cathedrals have been more impressive outside – mosques have been moreso inside.  I stayed in the Beyoglu area of Istanbul; all of the mosques I visited were in the Fatih or Old City / Sultanahmet area.  I’m under the impression Fatih has more expensive food and hotels, although that was my casual assumption just wandering around.  Those I visited in order…

I took the tram over to Fatih my last day although most just walked over the bridge when I went there.  The Yeni Mosque / New Mosque is pretty evident on the left when crossing over, where many people were fishing.

Closer on a less rainy day…

Hagia Irene near the Topkapi Palace.

Sultan Ahmed Mosque or the Blue Mosque

Lastly Hagia Sophia, now a museum…

Some wide angle gopro shots…

I’ll finish it off with a gopro selfie on the way to find something good to eat…
